Some of the Highlights at St. Patrick Church in 2011

Golf Tournament

Last year’s Golf Tournament had outdone previous tournaments.  It generated approximately $30,000 in funds which was used to renovate the entrance of the church including the re-tiling of the Narthex area.  The falling concrete in the entrance was a public safety concern and it was necessary for us to address this problem immediately.

Re-launching of St. Patrick’s Web-site

After over a year of stalled progress, with the help of Our Sunday Visitor, we were able to revamp our website.  The previous site was difficult to navigate and updating it was a cumbersome process.  The new site provides copies of our bulletin, messages from the pastor, listing of events in the parish and the community, listing of the church services including the introduction of online giving.  Based on last year’s statistics presented on the previous bulletin, the website proves to be a good and convenient resource for our parishioners and visitors alike.

Volunteer Appreciation Night

Lifetime achievement awards were given to 10 volunteers for their long-term service and in recognition of their dedication and devotion.  In addition, a special award was given to Ms. Nenette Murata for her volunteer services and hard work.  The lifetime awardees are listed below along with some of their volunteer responsibilities to St. Patrick Church:

160th Celebration

This event was celebrated with a concert composing of three different choirs representing the Irish, Hispanic and Filipino communities:

Mary Mc Laughlin's Cór Ainglí  (Angelic Choir)
Coro Hispano de San Francisco
St. Patrick’s Choir

The evening was magical and the talents of the performers were amazing and superb!  In addition, the slide show presentation of our Parish Manager, Zenny Rosel gave the audience more information and amusing background on St. Patrick’s history.  There was a good attendance from the Irish community and other prominent people.

Misa de Gallo

Nine days of early morning devotion – a Filipino tradition and culture observed by celebrating the Eucharist at 6:00am.  The officer from the Department of Parking and Traffic asked – who goes to these early morning services?  The reply was – the die hard and the devotees!  Yes, these Masses were much attended despite its unsociable hour.  In comparison to the previous years’ attendance, there were more participants this year!  Preparation of food for the Mass goers was facilitated using our new Social Hall kitchen.  Concluding the nine-day services was the Christmas Eve Mass.  Mr. Filemon Balingit magnificently created the beautiful nativity scene.
