 Pastor's Message

Dear Parishioners and Friends,

In St. Paul’s letter to the Colossians, chapter 1:24, he writes that he rejoices in his sufferings because they are “filling up what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ” This does not mean that Jesus’ Passion and death were not enough to save us, but that in God’s mysterious plan we can join our own sufferings with His for the good of the Church. When we pray, do penance for our sins, and give alms for the poor during Lent we are able to help ourselves and others, both materially and spiritually. I invite all of us to use this holy time to unite our Lenten sacrifices with those of Christ for the good of the Church, particularly for our parish and the people of our parish family.

I also want to invite you to experience anew the richness of our faith by participating in the various Holy Week and Easter celebrations. In them we remember the central mystery of our faith: Christ’s death and resurrection. We are blessed when you are present. Please plan on attending – and bring a friend!

Through your Easter Flower offering we add beauty to our altars and remind us to pray for those who have gone before us. The flowers also stand as a reminder of Christ’s triumph over death. They remind us that we are called to be Christ-like to one another, to resurrect goodness in our own lives and in those of our brothers and sisters. Let them also remind us to strive to become CHRIST to one another.

As we approach the joyful celebration of the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, we invite you to review the Liturgical Schedule for Holy Week and Easter Sunday. You should have received an envelope for your Easter Offering. For your convenience, you may also make your contribution online by visiting www.stpatricksf.org. Simply select the “Easter Offering” tab and follow the instructions provided. Each year, we rely on your faithful Easter generosity to help our parish meet its financial responsibilities. We are deeply grateful for your continued support.

May your generosity be richly blessed by the Risen Lord. Through the power of His Resurrection, may we, with faith and courage, become living signs of Christ’s love in and for the world.

I, and all who work here at Saint Patrick Church, pray that the blessings and grace of this Holy Season be with you and your loved ones.
HAPPY EASTER!

Yours in Christ the Teacher,

Fr. Spyrow

Pastor

And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age."
Matthew 28: 18-20 (RSV-CE)
